It Starts at Zero is a rock album from Nick Phoenix released on 21 March 2025. On 2 December 2024, it was announced that the first single, Saturn, would release on the following friday.[1] A second single was announced on 2 January, 2025[2], on the 8th, it was announced that this single would release on friday the 10th.[3] Winter released on 14 february and It Starts At Zero on the 24th. The album will feature cellist Helen Nash, guitarists Joel Shearer and David Levita, percussionists Greg Ellis and Aaron Sterling, bassists Jon Joseph and Curt Schneider and vocalist C.C. White.[4] Nick himself also provides vocals.

Trivia[]

  • The music video for Saturn was the first uploaded to Nick's YouTube channel rather than the Two Steps From Hell channel, but a teaser was uploaded to the TSFH channel.
    • This was treated similarly to Thomas Bergersen's Aventura Suite, which was uploaded thirteen days prior to Thomas' channel, and was also announced with a trailer on the TSFH channel.
    • Unlike the Saturn video, which doesn't credit its featured actress, Cloud By The Moon credits Eliza Johnson as the featured dancer.
    • The Everything's Fine video features Jess Monroe.
    • Maya Lukina is featured in the It Starts at Zero video, but is not credited.
    • When the original Everything's Fine music video was age-restricted by YouTube, it was replaced by another version that was re-edited to be unrestricted, however, this version got restricted as well. A third version was created. Both older versions are no longer available.
    • The music video for Winter was recorded by Jackson, Wyoming.
  • The cover has an Oldsmobile with the number plate NRP-0825. This is a reference to Nick's initials and birthday.
    • The plate's design is that used on plates issued form 1974-1980, but the serial itself could not yet have been issued as of December 2024.
  • Though the first single was not released on Apple Music as a single, it became available to be listened to (though listed under the album) on the same day as the single release.
  • Initially, Winter was not part of the album listed where it was available to pre-save, including on iTunes, where you could pre-buy.
    • This also lead to Winter being the only track on the album to have an ISRC issued in 2025.
  • A making-of video was released on 18 March 2025, also serving as a kind of album taster, as it contains previews of tracks that were not yet publicly available.
  • Man With A Gun was inspired by Bond songs.[5]
